TYPE J THERMOCOUPLE (Iron/Constantan) Composed of a positive leg which is iron and a negative leg which is approximately 45 % nickel-55% copper. (Note - Constantan is Copper-Nickel.) When protected by compacted mineral insulation and appropriate outer sheath, Type J is useable from 0 to 816°C, (32 to 1500°F).
Probes Unlimited, Inc. custom designs and manufactures thermocouple sensors including: Type K, J, N, R, S, B, T, E.
J-Type Thermocouple, 32°F to 900°F Temperature Sensor—The J-Type Thermocouple works with NI measurement devices and software to help you acquire temperature data within a measurement can use LabVIEW or FlexLogger software and NI-DAQmx driver software to configure measurements and predefined scaling coefficients for the J-Type Thermocouple and acquire …
Type J Thermocouple: The type J is also very common. It has a smaller temperature range and a shorter lifespan at higher temperatures than the Type K. It is equivalent to the Type K in terms of expense and reliability. Type J Temperature Range: Thermocouple grade wire, -346 to 1,400F (-210 to 760C) Extension wire, 32 to 392F (0 to 200C)
· I'd like to get the Arduino to read temperatures of up to 200C/400F but using a Type J thermocouple. Adafruit sells an excellent Type K thermocouple breakout for the Arduino, but sadly I can't find anything similar for Type J thermocouples. Does anyone know of anything or can show me how to wire up a Type J thermocouple ampliflier to an Arduino platform?
Type J. Type J (iron–constantan) has a more restricted range (−40 °C to +750 °C) than type K but higher sensitivity of about 50 µV/°C. The Curie point of the iron (770 °C) causes a smooth change in the characteristic, which determines the upper temperature limit.
Thermocouple Sensors made from J, K, T and E Type Thermocouple Alloys. Sensor designs include Surface Patch, Beaded Wire and Thermocouple Probes with Connectors attached or with Wire leads

The MAX31855 performs cold-junction compensation and digitizes the signal from a K-, J-, N-, T-, S-, R-, or E-type thermocouple. The data is output in a signed 14-bit, SPI-compatible, read-only format. This converter resolves temperatures to °C, allows readings as high as +1800°C and as low as -270°C, and exhibits thermocouple accuracy of ±2°C for temperatures ranging from -200°C to ...

Life of thermocouple will be constrained by an ambient environment and also by ageing. As a result, wires in thermocouple measure reduced voltages as the thermoelectric coefficient changes with time. Also, conductors lose homogeneity on prolonged exposure to high temperatures. Different thermocouple varieties are available to suit diverse applications, such as type J, K, T, N etc. Some ...
Thermocouple Type J Technical Details. Type J thermocouples are good in both reducing and oxidizing atmospheres. Type J has a slightly higher sensitivity than Type K at about 50 µV/°C. Type J is a very common thermocouple sensor type. It is most suited for lower temperatures than Type K …
Type J. Iron-constantan (Fe-CuNi) The colour of the outer sheath is black, the positive wire is also black and the negative wire is white. Thermowires for connection to type J elements are labelled with JX.
Thermocouples: Type J, K, N, R, S, B, T, E. Temperature Range (- 200 to 2316)°C; RTDs: operate in a temperature range of (-200 to 1000) °C; Bearing Sensors: Case Style A, B, C, and D. Thermocouple and RTD configurations.
Type J Bayonet Thermocouple is a sensor that measures temperature. It consists of two different types of metals, joined together at one end. When the junction of the two metals is heated or cooled, a voltage is created that can be correlated back to the temperature. Thermocouple alloys are commonly available as wire. · J type Thermocouple (less powerful option then the K) Second, on the base metal list is the J type thermocouple. Despite having a smaller temperature range and less capable of sensing at higher temperatures, it’s still a common option! Here’s all about the J type Thermocouple: Lead material used: Iron (+), Constantan (-) Color-code:
