Checking the engine code with my BAFX OBD-II Scanner, an earlier Amazon purchase, I found that Sensor 2 (Downstream O2 sensor after catalytic converter) in Bank 2 had failed. I ordered this part, and made repair in about 1 hour with most of my time spent freeing rusted nuts.
Jun 02, 2019· Sensor 1- Sensor 1 would be the first O2 sensor in the line of sensors starting with the exhaust manifold and making its way back to the exhaust pipe. An Oxygen sensor that is between the catalytic converter and the engine is known as an “upstream” sensor. Oxygen sensors after the catalytic converter are “downstream sensors”.

The rule is bank one is the exhaust bank with number one cylinder so if a four or straight six, bank one sensor one is the front O2 sensor, if a V engine, it will be the front sensor on the exhaust bank with number one cylinder. Here is a guide to help you get the oxygen sensor changed out. Please let us know if you need anything else to get ...
Jun 20, 2016· Re: O2 sensors. Bank one starts on the drivers side but on the in a 2500 the pipe goes to the passenger side. So bank 1 sensor 1 is on the drivers side but bank 1 sensor 2 is on the passenger side before the muffler. Just follow the pipe back starting on drivers side. I recently replaced bank 1 sensor 2. Turned out to be just a broken wire ...
Shipped fast, although not the same exact sensor, I learned that it is not what the sensor looks like but actually the make up of the sensor. Different manufactures make different styles but with same inherent properties. I was throwing a sensor 1 bank 1 code and changed both bank 1 and bank 2- sensor 1, which is before the cat converter.
An investigation of returned number 1 and 2 EGT sensors to the Warranty Parts Center has identified a common occurrence of sensors being replaced with “no trouble found” (NTF). If any one of the following DTCs are present, perform the service procedure in this bulletin. DTC CONDITION . P0545 Sensor 1 Low Voltage P0546 Sensor 1 Low Voltage
Feb 17, 2014· i got check engine light on today and resided to make video so you guys can tell me whats wrong and what should i do. :)
P0544 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for "Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 1". This can happen for multiple reasons and a mechanic needs to diagnose the specific cause for this code to be triggered in your situation.

Sensor No. 1 is usually the one in the exhaust manifold, while sensor No. 2 is usually the downstream O2 sensor behind the converter. Cylinder bank 1 is the same side that also has the number one cylinder in the engine’s firing order. Bank 2 would be the other side.
O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1) What does that mean? This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is a generic powertrain code, which means that it applies to OBD-II equipped vehicles. Although generic, the specific repair steps may vary depending on make/model. The O2 sensor produces a voltage based on oxygen content in the exhaust.
Mar 10, 2021· A P0171 code appears in the engine control unit when the Oxygen sensor on bank 1 recognizes a too lean air-fuel mixture for the sensor to correct it. Several different things could cause this trouble code. Here is what you need to know about the P0171 code. Code Definition. P0171 – System Too Lean (Bank 1) ...
The most common cause of this code is a faulty heated oxygen sensor. Thus, it must be checked and must be replaced if proven defective. Other repairs include: Repair vacuum leaks; Repair or replace HO2S bank 1 sensor 1 open or shorted harness; Repair or replace poor electrical connection in HO2S bank 1 sensor 1; Sometimes, exhaust gas leaks are ...
Jul 10, 2020· In most cases, a bad (O2) sensor will trigger a check engine light. P0138 and P0135 are some of the codes you may expect to see on a OBD II reader. Other than that, it’s difficult to spot a failing (O2) sensor. It will inevitably lead to decreased gas mileage, but it’s usually not drastic enough for an average driver to notice.
Luckily, I already had the special O2 sensor socket but 1A Auto had that for sale as well. I got home from work that night and again pulled out the spot lights and tools to evaluate the situation. The fault code P1288 identifies the O2 sensor location as sensor 1, bank 2, otherwise known as the front or upstream sensor on the passenger side of ...
Sensor 1, Sensor 2. As far as oxygen sensor location goes, things are quite simple: Sensor 1 is the upstream oxygen sensor. It is the sensor that measures the oxygen content in the exhaust, providing an input to the computer, which determines how to adjust the air/fuel ratio. Sensor 1 is the sensor …

Bank 2 is on the opposite side of Bank 1. On a 4-cylinder engine, there is only one bank that's called Bank 1. Sensor 1 is ...
When replacing the oxygen sensor remember: Many oxygen sensors are damaged by leaking oil or coolant. If that is the case, the cause of that leak needs to be identified and repaired, or else the replacement oxygen sensor will be damaged as well. New vehicles require specific oxygen sensors, and not the universal sensors that were common prior ...
